CHEMKIN: Fundamentals and Applications

Three-Day Training Course
July 21-23, 2009
San Diego, California, USA

Course Abstract

CHEMKIN software represents a widely accepted standard for modeling chemical kinetics in a variety of chemical processes, including combustion, catalysis, and chemical conversion, as well as deposition and etching of materials for microelectronics and materials processing. This course reviews the fundamentals behind the CHEMKIN software, and focuses on ways to apply CHEMKIN software in optimizing and improving understanding of chemical process behavior. The class will cover CHEMKIN gas-phase and surface formalisms for developing and describing chemical mechanisms, as well as example applications to industry-relevant problems. Applications will include any or all of the following (depending on the interests of the participants) combustion (e.g., for gas-turbine, engine, and power-generation), chemical conversion, and materials processing.
